Congratulation: On 9th of October we were able to send a total of 2.500 signed petitions to the former Vice President of the United States of America, Honorable Al Gore. Thank you very much for your support!
Dear Mr Vice President Gore
Citizens in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and in other countries are deeply concerned about the development of the USA under President George W. Bush.
We are convinced that the free world - especially after the shocking events of 9/11 – would have behaved differently towards the USA had not George W. Bush been the President.
USA’s relationships towards the rest of the free world had hardly ever before been so badly affected as nowadays. The main reasons are USA’s recurring one sided decisions in foreign policy and above all in military. Further aspects of American policy complete this negative picture: the increasing influence of religious groups which at the same time become more and more radical; the highly visible influence of the oil and weapon industry which is definitely going too far; the increasing national debt after having had the first balanced budget since 1945 under President Bill Clinton and you; the increasing gap between rich and poor; the continuous rejection to sign the Kyoto protocol and at the same time the enormous energy and resource consumption.
There is a high demand for a strong President who owns reason, clear-sightedness, experience and a vision to lead this great country. In view of the undersigned none of the presidential candidates – from both political parties - has the grandeur that you would bring to this post.
Dear Mr Vice President Gore, for the sake of America, Europe and the whole world: Please run once more for presidency.
Best regards
The undersigned

Note: It was only AFP which reported on the feigned withdrawal of Al Gore on 17th of Oct. Al Gore himself did not say "No". As usual, he did say he has no plans towards a candidacy. So the AFP news can be looked upon as irrelevant. |
